This is going to be a little complicated. It depends on how much time do you can find for you and reading, but it is really hard to read, when you have little kids. Every year, there is huge amount books published around the world – around 2,2 Millions. I found a very interesting List from UNESCO which put together information from 123 Countries.

Coffee, Tea & Chat (in English) - Books you should read before...
…no matter what, question is, what else could you read, what is really the top literature from which you could learn something, have fun, be a bookworm because it is so good to read. If you write in Google "Top Books ...” you will find about 3.5 billion results. Everyone has their own list ... But what are the books that are really worth reading? It is not a competition, you read mainly for yourself, right? Nevertheless, one likes to find inspiration. I went through a few of the top lists and here are the books that I have found again and again...

Coffee, Tea & Chat (in English) - Reading books makes you better
Reading - for someone it is the most beautiful free time in the world. They escape the dreary everyday life and travel into the world of fantasy. For some it is empty timeout without something extra. Many people do not even know when they last had a book in their hands. Some read everywhere. It is an activity that you practice without knowing in everyday life, driving a car (reading road signs), watching TV (news, advertising, translations ...) or even in the kitchen (recipes, food blogs, ...). Reading the book is about a bit more than just reading. A long-term reading activity will bring us much more.
Coffee, Tea & Chat (in English) - 10 things nobody told me about parenting
Plenty of people will give you unsolicited parenting advice (I didn´t ask whether my baby should be wearing a hat, thank you), but rarely will they tell you what you really need to know. Starting with the changes in pregnancy, you’re changing to a whole new person called mom. Yes, there will be a father, too, probably, but the change hardly hit them as much as it does the women. Beginning with the figure, state of mind, sleep quality, stress level, health. And then, the baby is born. And the fun starts.
V Kittsee fabriku postavili začiatkom 60tych rokov minulého storočia a odvtedy priťahuje návštevníkov so sladkými jazýčkami.
Coffee, Tea & Chat (in English) - National week of marriage
“Life is sometimes difficult, even too difficult for one, so it´s good that there are two in marriage. When one is tired, the other just pulls in ... and in the better case will even offer his shoulder the first one can lean on, so they can easily get through difficult situations, but when they are both tired or overloaded, they are not sure whether it is possible to rely on the other one ...”

Coffee, Tea & Chat (in English) - Having a memorable christmas time

Z kategórie: 'Learning english'

Material in PDF - A4 and for mobile devices (kindle, smart phones, ...)

Article
Making Christmas a memorable occasion is possible with a few changes to your normal routine. Go for some new ways of sharing and giving to give a new sense of purpose to your Christmas celebrations this season. Many of these activities can be done whether you celebrate Christmas in a snowy climate or under a blazing hot sun; wherever you are in the world, your Christmas celebration should always be filled with the spirit of love, peace and joy.

THINK ABOUT OTHERS
Give a small gift to someone you don´t know. It doesn’t need to be a charity (but can, of course). A neighbor you have never talked to, watchman of the nearby shop or anyone. No one would say no to a gift wrapped in smile on a Christmas Day. Remember, it´s not the value of the gift, it´s the pleasant surprise you give them that add up to both your joy. Prepare something nice with your kids. Let them take out a toy, wrap it together and bring it to a neighbor’s door where you know a kid lives. Lay it down to the door, ring the bell and run away :) If it’s possible, check the situation to get your kid the chance to see the surprise in the eyes of others.

CREATE THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS TREE
Buy a living tree, a tree in a pot, or borrow it! This year, instead of a tree whose life has been interrupted abruptly for the Christmas mill, buy a living tree. Select one that will continue growing for seasons to come in a pot before you have to plant it in the garden. Explain to your family the importance of respecting life by planting more trees. Take the kids with you, speak about it, choose one together. It doesn’t need to be 3 meters high, or the prettiest one, note, your kids see the best one, the highest, the most wonderful one, if you tell them a story that they love. Decorate it together with the whole family in the way all of you like (yes, with the kids it may mean that the wonderful glass balls will wait a few years in a box) and the tree will be full of paper cars, butterflies or anything else your kids love.

INVITE SOMEBODY NEW TO A CHRISTMAS MEAL.
Is there someone who is all alone this Christmas who could do with a family? Or is there a family member who has been left out in the cold for years following a family dispute or other problem? Christmas is a time to bury hatchets, to unfold our charitable spirit and share amongst all. Invite someone special to a visit or if you like, your Christmas dinner and share the warmth amongst each other all the while opening your heart and acting upon charitable intentions (this may cover also point one if you prepare a gift). Make time to make Christmas a family occasion. Go and visit the Christmas market for the energy of it, see a Christmas movie as a family, create a nice Christmas wrath together, join a local charity event or Christmas joy. Take it easy for change and feel the spirit of Christmas rather than having it thrust upon you. Nothing makes memories last for longer than the memory of peace, tranquility, harmony and a slow pace all at once.

GO TO THE CHURCHES AROUND TO SEE THE PEACEFUL CHRISTMAS CRIBS
There for sure is a Christmas scene is every church around you, take a day and visit a few, put it together with a walk through the neighborhood and check on the Christmas lights people decorated the houses with. If possible, join someone for a warm tea or a Christmas market for the program at the end. You do not need to be Christian to see the beauty and peace behind it. It may even help you to get calmer and peaceful after a hard day or week at work. If you have other Christmas events around, choose one that fits your interests and is available for kids and join it to see the kids’ happiness and take a moment free for yourself.

JOIN THE CAROLERS
You have the possibility to see carolers to sing? Go there, kids love it! Applause a lot, it is a lot of energy behind this! If you have the chance, don´t just listen to them - go and join them! Roam your local neighborhood singing songs of peace, love and joy to everyone around. Spread the spirit of Christmas directly. Kids won’t leave you alone :) If you have no such possibility around, make your own caroling group at home, listen to some nice Christmas carols, learn them and sign every day until Christmas. It is a great atmosphere, when family sings together.

GO OUT AND SEE WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING FOR CHRISTMAS
• Buy tickets to a local theater troupe´s play. All the effort of learning lines, rehearsing and caring to put a play on during the busy season deserves your attention and applause.
• Take a walk and see your street´s Christmas lights. Take a movie of what you see and add it to YouTube. Leave a notelet in your neighbor´s mailboxes with the URL for them to check out their own street life at Christmas time as your gift to them. Just be sure to not show driver´s plates or other identifiable information - keep it general.
• Visit local museums and public libraries. Look for Christmas storytelling sessions, for Christmas displays and Christmas themed activities that can provide you and your family with an opportunity to share in group activities with other people in your community and make the season feel even more joyous and shared.
• Offer to help at a preschool or school Christmas party. Even if your kids have grown up and left, they can always do with helpers. And there is nothing quite like the joy on children´s faces - time and time and time again to make you feel really good at Christmas time.

DON´T FORGET THOSE WHO AREN´T HOME FOR CHRISTMAS.
There are people who cannot be home for Christmas - troops, scientists in Antarctica, doctors doing emergency duty, volunteers in refugee camps, a family member in hospital, an exchange student overseas and many other reasons. Show them you are thinking of them by contacting them the best way you can - phone them, e-mail them, YouTube them - any way that works best for you. Just make sure they are a part of your Christmas celebrations in your heart and mind and that they are aware of this. Or even something much more easier – give a small practical present to a courier who brings you a package or to your local post-delivery guy. They have extra tough time now. Send post cards to those who love to receive some nice words – the elder. But always, always explain your kids why are you doing this things. It will make them more understanding the world and the need to be a good one.

CREATE “EVERYDAY” ACTIVITIES
Reading a short Christmas story, singing a new song, burning a candle on a wooden wreath or having everyday a small activity prepared for the kids so they better understand the preparation time of Christmas. Do you know the customs about every day in Christmas period? Tell the kids the stories about them… You may not need to be Christian to understand the happy family time and its importance in these days. More help, more contact with each other or giving more from mine to others make us better people not only for the Christmas, but for the next period of our life. And kids learn from what they see us do. So it makes them better too.

GO MINIMAL
It may sound a bit weird because for Christmas mostly we see more food, more gifts, more traveling, more, more, more… But yes, making Christmas minimal may actually make it much better. Beginning with less Christmas stress, what do you really need to have ready for Christmas? Make a list, cut things out and make priority list to be sure you have the most important things done. Less shopping makes you happier due to less stress, too. Do you really need to buy 6 gifts for everyone, or it is more important to find the one which fits? Yes, it’s harder, but worth the time. And yes, kids will be ok with one really good chosen gift, too. Even if its second hand, because the value of the gift isn’t the box on its own, it’s what is in there and what is behind it (the story again). Less cookies? Oh yes, it’s fine to bake only 2 – 3 sorts. Or make a deal with friends, neighbors, that you’ll make a trade and in a few you may have 12 sorts with baking only 3 :). Less things at all? Make a reverse advent calendar, one for the whole family, or one for everyone and you’ll feel lighter and lighter every day. Find new use for the things you’re not using anymore and make someone happy. Yourself included.

Questions
1. What are your Christmas preparation activities with kids?
2. What are the sorts of cookies you love to bake?
3. What is your secret wish to receive this Christmas? Why?
4. If you could be one day alone, what would you do (take it as a Christmas gift from your family ;) )
5. Do you love Christmas or could you skip it? Why?
6. What are your customs for Christmas? How the Christmas eve and dinner time looks at your home?
